The department of civil engineering was started in the academic year 2011-2012 with an aim of promoting high quality education in the field of civil engineering that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings.
The department currently offers a diploma engineering program in civil engineering following the MSBTE Mumbai. The curriculum broadly covers the engineering subjects of related fields such as surveying, building construction, geo-technical engineering, mechanics of structures, hydraulics, water resources engineering, Public health engineering, transportation engineering, contracts and accounts, solid waste management etc.
The teaching is assisted with digitized presentation for better understanding of the students. Industrial visits and industry expert lectures are arranged for students to gain practical experiences. Every year technical event “Techwings” is organized for students to explore the knowledge and interact with other college students. The departmental toppers in board exams have been felicited and encouraged for continuous achievements.
CENTRE FOR CIVIL TESTING AND CONSULTANCY
- The Centre for Civil Testing & Consultancy was established to carry out the testing of building materials for the benefit of construction organizations.
The main areas of services in Civil Testing and Consultancy Centre are
- Testing of all building materials like cement, steel, brick, sand, aggregate etc.
- Analysis of water and their suitability for construction.
- Concrete mix design.
- Soil investigation to assess the safe bearing capacity of soil by standard penetration test.
- Testing of road materials like bitumen, soil, aggregate etc.
